What are the requirements for renting a car?
The driver must produce a valid Singapore Class 3 driver’s license and identity card (locals) or an international driving permit with passport (foreigners). If an IDP is not available, hirer must get an official English translation of their native country’s driver’s licence if it is in foreign language. Translation should be done at their respective embassies. Minimum age is 23 and maximum 60 years old. A minimum of 2-year qualified driving experience is required.
What does the car rental rate include?
Rates include insurance, maintenance and unlimited mileage. Minimum charge is one-day rental. Excess hours are charged at one-fifth or up to 50% of daily rates depending on the number of hours exceeded. Rates are subject to change without prior notice. All rates quoted are in Singapore currency and subjected to GST (Goods & Services Tax).
What does your car rental insurance cover?
Our vehicles are covered under a comprehensive commercial motor policy which includes damage to vehicles and liability to third parties. However the hirer is liable for damage excess as follows – all private cars and commercial vehicles @ $3000.00 before GST for Own Damage and $3000.00 before GST for Third Party for local use. Excess amounts stated in contract will overwrite these amounts.
What happens if my vehicle is involved in an accident?
The hirer must report all accidents to Popular Rent A Car immediately. Hirer shall not admit liability. Should there be bodily injuries, the hirer must report to the Singapore Traffic Police within 24 hours and the original accident report must be forwarded to our office as soon as possible. Where there are no bodily injuries involved, the hirer is required to fill in a non-injury motor accident report form, which can be obtained from Popular Rent A Car.
Will there be any charge if I want the vehicle to be delivered to me?
There will be a service fee of $30.00 before GST for each delivery or collection during office hours and $60.00 before GST after office hours (subject to availability).
Can I drive into West Malaysia?
Yes subject to a surcharge of $35.00 per day before GST and and $45.00 per day before GST during Hari Raya and CNY periods. Please notify us in advance so that the vehicle will be properly and adequately insured for West Malaysia use. The damage excess will be doubled for use within Malaysia.
When can I collect and return my rental vehicle?
Collections and returns will be during office hours, subject to special exceptions with surcharge.
